Asian Tsunami Aid Effort
An estimated 1 in 22 blacks in the U.S. are expected to be diagnosed with the AIDs virus at some point in their life, according to statistics released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on October 14, 2010. Blacks accounted for nearly half of all new HIV infections reported in the U.S. in 2006, notes the CDC.
The lifetime risk of contracting aids is 1 in 170 for whites and 1 in 52 for Hispanics in the U.S. Asian-Americans have the lowest lifetime risk, at about 1 in 222.
