Aside from an ethnically diverse and stellar cast, this Hollywood redo is almost exactly the same as the original UK film version of Death At A Funeral. This isn’t necessarily a compliment.

Double Trouble

Death At A Funeral was, and remains, an uneven absurd comedy. The many intersecting storylines, especially of two rivaling brothers, are dull, but the situations that arise out of them are riotously funny.

It’s a shame, that director Neil Labute and writer Dean Craig did not seize the opportunity to improve on its shortfalls. Craig was the film’s original scriptwriter, who was brought back to pen the American adaptation.
